P.S. As for people who complain - I don't see how this effects anyone. If you choose to blaze trough game instead of going slowly, it's your decision. And it's great we have an option to play our way.
Sadly the part you avoid is the asura which is the race you need to get rank5 of to craft glasses.

I guess after 3 bans I'm finally starting to get a little paranoid.

Meh.

I'm hoping they leave it alone. Hopefully it doesn't create problems for people who want to return to the primaries though. It's just an expansion and the primaries include several different dungeon quests. I would agree that if you have one of every character like me, there's good reason for you to take the shortcut to the end region, where the farming is better. You've got to farm to craft certain things, and for many people, that's one of the most fun parts of the game.

Personally, I'd rather play Glint's Challenge in repetition on any character I choose than play through the primaries several times over all characters to get there.

I don't think it's the intended design, though. I think they'd rather have a few people still advertising to join certain questing parties than everyone making a rush to the end.

well happened to me aswell first time by accident, wanted to help guildie with heart of shiverpeaks (with char that just got to eotn), then we followed with destruction depths. I knew that sometimes when you skip certain parts of quests you don't get rewards and they don't appear as 'completed' in your quest log.

But if you complete HoS and DD one after another (without leaving explorable areas) it counts as done. Whatever it is i'm happy. Keep in mind if you do destruction depths only it won't let you kill great destroyer himself.

Even if just to have an outpost just next to dwarf camp in battledepths and near HoS to get to gadd's encampment.

What ever happened to creativity and exploration? Not everyone wants to do mindless sequence of *exactly the same* quests, killing *exactly the same mobs* in *exactly the same spot* every time.

If they made the storyline at least a tiny bit interesting, some might replay it.

But replay value in GW is sorely lacking, and comes from other activities. Dungeons, elite areas, farming, pvp, armor and equipment. Neither of those are described anywhere through a long sequence of prerequisites.

Is quest stacking in WoW also wrong? So I should do it like it was meant, one at a time? What about grinding vs. questing, so you can optimize leveling?

People like different things. And doing the same (completely lame in GW:EN) storyline to get to the one or two worthwhile things that are in the entire expansion, storyline is just a redundant roadblock.

Some people don't like mindless grind (forced storyline is grind, and a very bad one at that). Sadly, WoW comparison is in place. You can go anywhere you want there, you're never forced into a boring sequence of steps, there's hundred ways to progress at any point, not a whole total of ~10 quests and long walks in the park to get between the outposts.

Running were originally advertised as a key feature of GW. Anet knew, that people will get fed up of doing the same thing over and over.

But apparently, people do like that. So here we are, with a mindless grindfest, where you need to be lead around through a lame quest story like an idiot.

Different strokes for different folks. But I've seen the story once. I know what happens. It'll be exactly the same the next time. If they even tried to add a tiny random parts it might make it less painful. But right now, just do whatever. People skipping this part don't hurt anyone in any way.

The games you refer to were very simple games in terms of design. This was driven by hardware limitations (only so much content you can fit on an old NES/SNES cartridge).

The more complicated things get, the more likely the designers are to make a mistake with the mechanics and unintentionally create an exploit. Streaming content helps alleviate this problem somewhat (since you can FORCE everyone to fix their copy of the game in order to play), but it's a certainty that exploits will exist in any modern game at release. There's just too much code to debug and possible ways to break the system for any limited group of testers to find all the problems.

Personally, I *like* finding all the ways to abuse the game. Games tend to get stale for me when finding creative ways to get a small competitive edge cease to exist. ANet's current method of PvP "balancing" yields few enough viable team builds to realistically permit much outside-the-box thinking, which is a large part of why I rarely touch HA or GvG these days.

The guild currently has a dungeon we "exploit" in order to complete it repeatedly in about 12 minutes. This has a nice effect for us - lots of drops and cash, much faster than we could otherwise manage. If the possibility of finding such creative methods to accomplish objectives in the game didn't exist, I'd have quit playing already.

this isnt true...at all. im not sure if you could skip dungeons in the original zelda, but i know that if you knew the secret locations of the super ring and shield you could breeze through the whole game easily. and in the original mario for snes (not the original nintendo), you could skip everything between the first and last stage by finding the special item (i think it was a flute) and using it to access the secret warp tunnels. as for mystic quest legend...i've never heard of this game, but for every generic game you name for the nintendo or super nintendo, i can name two that featured some kind of secret that allowed you to bypass content or make it much easier.

Yeah, because beating GW:EN the normal way takes FOREVER...

Oh, wait...

Nevermind. I've only taken a couple characters through...three times on my rit since I wanted to keep turning in for the Asura faction (she looks HOT in glasses).

I'm not really sure why anyone would want to, "get to the end," of GW:EN. The greens there are terrible. It's not like playing the whole campaign is difficult or takes any time.

I guess it's for the same reason that people actually pay to beat Abaddon...

Start doing it now, because if this gets reported it WILL most certainly be correct on Monday.

And its NOT subject to banning, so enjoy it while it lasts.

What's wrong with the shortcut? I mean if you cant beat the great destroyer? You will only be able to craft the armor and do the challenge....... Right?

you CAN beat the great destroyer...
when i have to live with feeling that i'll have to redo the whole storyline (which is actually cool, exciting etc. but WAY too slow and too short at same time), just to whack that mecha-dragon wannabie to get these super skinned weapons.... i feel bad.... really bad

i agree with martin to some point, cause grinding the way they make me grind makes me feel even worse. If there is way to skip some parts of certain areas to make the way to drops faster, or the run more efficient in good stuff then why not?

Well, time to:

Do all the dungeons at least one
Get all the Gwen heroes
Play the Dwarven Boxing
Fight in the Norn Tournament
Play through polymock (I hate it but having a mursaat follow me around is cool)
Rank 5 Norn, Asura, Ebon. (I plan to max it during Hard mode but some people just want armor)
Beat the rest of the missions you skipped.

Do that in two hours.

Really? I just did it. My warrior had only gotten as far as EotN. I got ina group and we did Destructions Depths. Got to CTC and we in and beat the Great Destroyer. Got credit for them both in my Handbook too.

There is no fix, but there's a parallel bug. If one of your chars has not gone to the Far Shiverpeaks yet, they can't at the moment. The crevasses aren't clickable anymore, making it impossible to explore it. So on one end, you got ab ug that let's new to EotN chars go straight to CTC and end game, but on the other you have one that doesn't allow chars you want to get to EotN to get there.
